Jahrhundertsturm

Gestern sind wir in LA aufgebrochen, zur letzten Etappe unseres Baja Urlaubs (dazu spaeter mehr). Obwohl laut Steffen in LA immer die Sonne scheint war ein Jahrhundertsturm vorhergesagt und geregnet hat es auch schon. In der Bergen noerdlich von LA hat es richtig geschuettet, nur die "gusty winds", vor denen immer gewarnt wurde, haben wir nicht mitgekriegt.
Wieder zurueck in San Francisco haben wir uns dann erst mal schlafen gelegt, und wurden dann von Birte aus Deutschland darauf aufmerksam gemacht, das halb San Francisco keinen Strom hat und die Bruecken gesperrt sind. Ganz so schlimm war es dann nicht, aber die Narben des Sturms waren unuebersehbar.




Ein Glueck hatte ich unser Auto erst nach dem Sturm unter den Baum geparkt...

He got into a car at 6 a.m. Saturday and hit a road closure at Applegate on Interstate 80, and waited at a nearby Denny's until the road reopened. He said he was the first one through and was on the slopes Saturday and planned to continue skiing until Monday morning.

"I was born and raised in Tiburon and I've never seen Richardson Bay rougher," Lynch said. "It's a miracle. Twenty-seven years in the business, and this is a good rescue."

All in all, it was a day unlike any other for people around the Bay Area.
